It’s quite fascinating, the passing of time. Within seconds we have changed direction; mulling over decision after decision, weighing up the outcome.

When it comes to making art, hundreds, even thousands of minute decisions are made within seconds of one another; colour, composition, meaning, every line, every brushstroke, every intention, every meaning. In milliseconds. In hours. In years.

The passing of time for an artist can mean short handfuls of it can transform into decades, and we are unknowing to it. The decisions that I make now are merely shifts in loose sand; calculaltvie, but ever changing, many subjected to never seeing the light of day, failing before a chance was given.

And so the art that I create, that artists create, is more than just paint on canvas or pencil to the paper, its hundreds and thousands of decisions made over an endless expansion of time. We are bound to it, yet forever forgetful.

I’m 29, and live in the UK. Trying to make it as an artist in both traditional painting and writing in 2021. Dreaming of writing fiction and painting forever.
